    The Department of Computer Science at the University of Sheffield achieved remarkable results in the latest National Student Survey (NSS), ranking 1st in the Russell Group for the ‘student voice’ category, 2nd for ‘organisation and support’ and ‘assessment and feedback’, and 3rd for ‘academic support’. Additionally, it placed among the top five for ‘teaching on my course’ and ‘learning opportunities’. Following its first-place finish for overall satisfaction in the 2022 NSS, this year’s survey saw the University excel, ranking first among Russell Group institutions. With over 335,000 final-year students providing feedback, Sheffield received the highest positive responses across 27 questions related to the academic experience, mental wellbeing, and support resources. The University also ranked in the top three for learning opportunities, student voice, and mental health, as well as in the top five for learning resources, academic support, and organisation and management. Moreover, the Office for Students (OfS) survey included a new question on freedom of expression, with Sheffield placing among the top five in the Russell Group for students feeling free to express their opinions and beliefs during their studies.

    Undergraduate Academic Achievement Scholarships (UK Students)

    The Department of Computer Science is offering Academic Achievement Scholarships to UK students who will begin their undergraduate studies in September 2024.

    These scholarships provide a one-time payment of £1,000 for students achieving A level grades of AAA (or equivalent) with an A* in Mathematics. For those attaining AAA*, including A* in Mathematics, the award increases to £2,000.

    Eligibility Requirements:

    • Achieve A-level grades of AAA (or equivalent), including an A* in Mathematics.
    • Designate the University of Sheffield as the first (firm) choice in the UCAS application process.
    • Begin undergraduate studies in the Department of Computer Science in 2024.
    • Enroll in a full-time undergraduate program within the Department.
    • Be classified as a UK student for tuition fee purposes.
    • Complete all prerequisite subjects for the chosen degree.

    Undergraduate Computer Science Excellence Scholarships (International Students)

    The University of Sheffield is also offering Excellence Scholarships of up to £2,000 for international students commencing an undergraduate degree in September 2024 in the Department of Computer Science.

    The scholarship amount is based on academic achievement equivalent to A levels:

    • £1,000 for AAA (including an A* in Mathematics).
    • £2,000 for AAA* (including an A* in Mathematics).

    Eligibility Requirements:

    • Attain A-level grades of AAA (or equivalent), including an A* in Mathematics.
    • Select the University of Sheffield as the first (firm) choice in the UCAS application process for 2024 entry.
    • Commence undergraduate studies in the Department of Computer Science in 2024.
    • Enroll in a full-time undergraduate program within the Department.
    • Be classified as an international student for tuition fee purposes.
    • Complete all prerequisite subjects for the chosen degree.

    Eligible students will receive the scholarship as a cash bursary at the start of their course. If awarded, students will receive £1,000 for each subsequent academic year, contingent upon maintaining an overall average mark of 70% in the previous year.

    Additional Details:

    • The scholarship will be awarded automatically in October; no application is required.
    • Continuation of the scholarship is dependent on achieving a 70% average mark; failure to meet this requirement will result in the scholarship being withdrawn and not reinstated.
    • Scholarships will not be awarded during any optional or compulsory study abroad periods or years in industry.
    • Students enrolled in the University of Sheffield International College pathway program are not eligible.
    • The scholarship can be combined with other University of Sheffield scholarships, provided the total does not fully fund tuition fees.
    • The University reserves the right to adjust scholarship offerings.

    Undergraduate Experience Sheffield Scholarship

    Furthermore, the University is offering 150 Experience Sheffield Scholarships worth £3,600 each for home fee-paying students starting in September 2024. These scholarships are entirely funded by donations from alumni and supporters of the University globally.

    Along with these, the University offers a range of scholarships for undergraduate students, including the Undergraduate Sheffield Bursary Scheme, which provides financial assistance that does not require repayment unless circumstances change. Additionally, various scholarships and bursaries are available for postgraduate students, including opportunities for PhD candidates.
